I have great news on the Horizon.

Received some great news yesterday, unfortunately I can not talk about it as of yet.  I will, however post the details as soon as I possibly can.  I took the last two days to get in as much of a good workout as I could in a short period of time.  Although not the best workout either day, with the time that I had it turned out to be decent.  I am finding myself getting a mental block when it comes to pulling heavy weight on the deadlift.  I seem to be doubting myself right before I drop to pull.  I know that I am able to pull the weight, but for some reason as soon as I get in front of the weight I begin to doubt myself.  I need to work on my mental focus.  Anyone have any ideas for me.

Do you lift the same time everyday???

I am on vacation starting today and so I decided to get to the gym early this morning(8:30) so that I could get off to a good start.  Boy, was I wrong.  Not only was I unable to get motivated for the big pulls, but I had nothing in the tank whatsoever.  The 515 I pulled last week dropped to 405.  I am trying not to let this get me down, or to effect any of my vacation, but you dedicated lifters out there know that a bad workout has a tendency to bring you down.  I left the gym on a high last week, looking forward to today.  I was even planning my workout on the way to the gym, thinking of ways to increase my pulls.  Got there, had a good warm-up and that was it.  I just did not have it today.  This is the second time in the past couple months that I have tried to get my deads in early to start my day and had a terrible workout.  I am no longer going to get up early to make it to the gym.  For some reason, my legs and back need plenty of time to be up and walking around warming up.  I would love to be able to get the gym out of the way early, I just do not see it happening any time soon.  Is this just me, or are there others out there that can not change up their routine at all?

I have been doing rack deadlift for about 2 months now and have seen my actual deadlift max go up a little, but not as fast as I would like. What did I do?  I decided to continue the rack deads, but to find a way to slowly lower the height of the rack.  After reaching the lowest possible bar on the rack at my gym, I had to think outside the box.  So, I started using a weight on either side. This is giving me about a       2-2/12 inch lift.  I was able to pull 515 today rather easy from this height.  I have to say that I am already trying to think of ways to lower the weight down another inch.  This seems to be working for me, and I am really pumped to see how quickly this is going to help me reach the goals that I have set forth for myself.  If you have any more ideas for me, drop me a line

I did not sleep much last night, and had a rough day at work.  Honestly, I did not want to even go to the gym today.  I had to talk myself into it, but am glad that I did.  I was able to power myself thru a great dead-lift workout and squatted a few heavy sets.  The plan for the day was to spend a little extra time in the gym since I was sick last week and had to pass over a couple lifting days, but I was able to pack my workout into a quick, yet effective hour.  I wish that I could get in and out of the gym in one hour every day.  It would make my wife a lot happier as well.  Hoping to keep the workouts effective and powerful so that I can max out the end of the month to see how my progress is coming.  I am getting close to a couple of my goals and looking forward and planning for the next level.  Any ideas or suggestion, holler at me

What is your favorite Football team.

I know that today is week 2 of the NFL, but who is planning on hitting the gym today.  I am planning on lifting around 11:00 this morning so that I can get “ready for some Football”  Who is your favorite team and why?   I am a huge Washington Redskin fan for two reasons.  One, my father went to school with one of the “HOGS” Mark May.  The other, I have always been a giant fan of #28 Darrell Green.

not feeling well today

I have not felt well for the last several days.  My head feels like it is about to explode, and my eyes and nose will not stop running.  What do you do to get past the sickness and back into health

Hope you all had a great Labor Day

I did take the weekend off, but was able to make it to the gym yesterday and today to get  a good workout in.  I knew there would not be many people at the gym but was not expecting it to be so empty.  How many of you made it to the gym, and how many of you used the long weekend as a mini-vacation for the gym???

Obviously I took a little time away, but I have refocused, re-energized, and remotivated myself to reach all of my goals.  Yesterday I had a good chest workout, but today I had a awesome day of deadlift.  Had a great, complete workout of 5 sets then decided to pull ones up to 455.  Have not tried that much weight in a while and definitely not after a workout, but I did manage to pull it. It was easier than I thought it was going to be.  I believe I am getting really close to my first goal which is 495(3 times my body weight).  Once I am able to pull that weight, I will begin looking for competitions.

What are your weekend plans

This week is my long stretch at work and unfortunately it significantly effects my workout schedule.  Due to this I am taking the time over today and tomorrow to ensure I get a great workout(hitting all muscles at every angle).   I am still able to lift during the week, but my routines are limited to at most 45 minutes, although they usually terminate around half an hour.  The only good thing about this week is that I am forced to change up exercises and time at rest.  As I said in a previous post, a quick workout is better than no workout at all.  What hinders you from getting the workout that you desire???

When do you change up your routine

Off to the gym in a couple of minutes.  It is rare for me to hit the gym this early.  I usually do not even consider going to the gym until around 4 or 5 in the afternoon, but I am in the need for a change. I also need to change up my lifting routine to shake things up a bit.  What do you do to shake things up.  Do you change your entire routine, or just the order of exercises.  I am considering utilizing more super sets for a short period of time to kick start my muscles.  I do have to say that I hate super sets, but it may just be what I need to begin hitting gains again.
